Bloom North Profile: Heidi Kenyon-Smith

What do you most admire in a colleague?

Collaboration is everything to me, team work really does make the dream work. That and a sense of perspective and humour.

What moment in your life most helped in shaping your career?

I took part in an anonymous 360 degree feedback leadership survey and the output was a fantastic report as well as some incredible feedback from my peers.

I’ve always struggled with confidence and imposter syndrome but this made me realise I’m as good as anyone else and have the right to be at the table. It’s still a work in progress but it was quite a cathartic moment.

Which women do you look to in life to help guide you?

I’m very close to my Godmother, who is a proud feminist, she’s been very influential in my life and fostered me from the age of 13-18, she’s always there with her unique perspective and support.

I’ve also been lucky enough to have been managed by some amazing female leaders over the years, in particular Rachel McDonald, former CEO at dentsu and now MD at Fearless Adventures has been an amazing coach and mentor.

What advice would you give your twenty-year-old self?

Know that, without a shadow of a doubt, you can do anything you put your mind to.
